The donation, which included 12,960 rolls of Tork Universal Hardwound hand towels manufactured in Essity’s South Glens Falls production facility, arrived at the Red Cross warehouse in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday, April 9, 2020, and were distributed to warehouses in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Georgia.

The Red Cross says its entire supply chain has been strained as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Essity’s donated Tork paper towels will be utilized at Red Cross shelters across the country, ensuring that Red Cross volunteers and employees, as well as people who turn to the Red Cross in their time of need, can maintain good hand hygiene, which is now more important than ever.

“Even during a pandemic, the work of the Red Cross does not stop,” says Guy J. Triano, Regional CEO for the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania. “This generous donation is helping us meet the needs of hospital patients by allowing us to efficiently collect blood at our donor centers and blood drives as we clean and disinfect more frequently. It will also allow us to be able to safely provide food, shelter and relief supplies after disasters of all types.”

Don Lewis, President of Essity Professional Hygiene, notes that, “Essity makes essential hygiene products for the workplace. We are proud to be able to assist the Red Cross, our longtime partner, in their tireless relief efforts. The pandemic has only increased the number of people in need and the Red Cross provides frontline care. We all need to do all we can to help them to stay sa
